I'm getting old or something, and went ahead and made a 3 day trip out of the drive home from Pittsburgh to Cushing. Going to stop in Tulsa at the VA and also the driver's license office this afternoon. That is I will if I get off my butt and get out of this motel room soon.

I've been playing some on the wsex poker room. www.wsex.com. No rake. That's a really had deal to beat. I've got some complaints about the software, but nothing worth passing up free rake over.

I didn't get off on the road yesterday like I'd planned. Leaving Pittsburgh this morning.

I've really become disillussioned with rec.gambling.poker these days. I think the days of open poker discussion are just over. It's become mostly spam and chat, not much discussion at all any more. There's still some, but it's not just the quantity of discussion that's gone down, it's also the quality.

For example, they had a thread the other day where somebody whined about his oppnent hitting a "three outer" on the river. 7-8 posters went into belly button mode and told him how to calculate how much ahead he was on the turn and flop against someone with three outs. It took the return of one of the old-line posters to finially point out to all of them that the opponent had 6 outs, not 3. I think that's really sad.

I don't have but a couple of links on it yet, but that's why I've added a page to www.garycarson.com with a list of poker blogs. It looks like blogging is the new form of unfettered poker discussion, as cumbersome as that is.

Leaving Pittsburgh.

Spending the day getting ready to head out home. I've been in Pittsburgh for a little over two weeks, driving back to Cushing Tuesday. I'll spend the night Tuesday night in a little town just east of St. Louis. I thought about visiting one of the casino cardrooms in St. Louis but I probably won't.

I need to wash clothes, do some updates on my website, try to finish an article I'm doing for pokermagazine.com, and finish a piece of literary fiction I'm going to enter into a local Pittsburgh contest. City Paper (the Pittsburgh weekly) is doing a contest on short stories with a topic of sex, so I've done a fictionalized version of the few months right after my marriage fell apart back in 1977. Mickey is doing to do a final edit of it for me this afternoon.
